University Impact Rankings 2023 for UN SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching. The list includes 674 institutions from 81 countries/regions.

This table on SDG 12 – responsible consumption and production measures universities’ research on responsible consumption and their approach to the sustainable use of resources.

Key insights

  • Western Sydney University in Australia leads the table, followed by three UK institutions – the University of Reading in second, and the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University in joint third
  • The UK is the most-represented nation in the top 100, with 30 institutions, followed by Canada with 11 and Australia with eight
