University Impact Rankings 2023 for UN SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching. The list includes 812 institutions from 89 countries/regions.

This table on SDG 7 – affordable and clean energy measures universities’ research related to energy, their energy use and policies, and their commitment to promoting energy efficiency in the wider community.

Key insights

  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia leads the table, followed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Pakistan’s COMSATS University Islamabad
  • Australia and the UK have the most representation in the top 100 with nine universities each. Thailand and Indonesia follow with seven each.
