University Impact Rankings 2023 for UN SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching. The list includes 860 institutions from 89 countries/regions.

This table on SDG 11 – sustainable cities and communities measures universities’ research on sustainability, their role as custodians of arts and heritage and their internal approaches to sustainability.

  • Canada’s Simon Fraser University tops the ranking. Two UK universities – the University of Glasgow and the University of Manchester – follow in second and third
  • The UK is the most-represented nation in the top 100, with 20 institutions, followed by Australia with 13 and Canada with 12
