University Impact Rankings 2023 for UN SDG 1: No poverty

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching. The list includes 876 universities from 88 countries.

This table on SDG 1 – no poverty measures universities’ research on poverty and their support for poor students and citizens in the local community.

Key insights

  • The table is led by the University of Johannesburg from South Africa. The University of Indonesia and Canada’s Western University take the second and third spots
  • The UK is the most-represented nation in the top 100, with 16 institutions, followed by Canada with nine. Next in line are Japan and Thailand, with seven universities each
