THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE DAN Department of Management & Organizational Studies FULL-TIME PROBATIONARY (TENURE TRACK) APPOINTMENT IN ACCOUNTING Appointment Type and Rank: Probationary– Assistant Professor Area/Discipline: Accounting Faculty: Faculty of Social Science Number of Positions: One Posting Date: August 25, 2026 Closing Date to Apply: Open until filled Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2027 Compensation Details: $130,000-$175,000 annually Position Profile: The DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies invites applications from exceptional early-career researchers to be appointed at Assistant Professor (probationary). Candidates must have a PhD or near completion in Accounting, or a related area and must possess a record of scholarly research and publication in leading refereed journals, and evidence of excellent teaching ability, or evidence of potential in these areas (e.g., a stream of work-in-progress that has the potential to yield publications in quality journals). The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong research program, compete successfully for research funding, teach tax, financial accounting and related courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and contribute to ongoing curriculum and program development. Preference will be given to candidates who have earned the Canadian CPA designation or a broadly equivalent international/overseas professional accounting qualification The DAN Department is an innovative and rapidly growing interdisciplinary unit within the Faculty of Social Science, with over 4,000 students enrolled. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required: Applicants must hold a PhD or near completion in Accounting or in a relevant field, and demonstrate scholarly excellence, including publication in leading refereed journals (or papers that are in the R and R stage with good prospects of acceptance). Candidates with strong empirical and analytical expertise are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have earned the Canadian CPA designation or a broadly equivalent international/overseas professional accounting qualification. Service: DAN Management is a highly collegial working environment, and the successful candidate should be willing to serve on committees and engage in external citizenship (e.g., be willing to review for peer reviewed journals).
