University Impact Rankings 2023 for UN SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching. The list includes 910 institutions from 105 countries/regions.

This table on SDG 16 – peace, justice and strong institutions measures universities’ research on peace and justice, participation as advisers for government and policies on academic freedom.

Key insights

  • Universiti Sains Malaysia leads the ranking. Queen’s University in Canada and Australian National University complete the top three
  • The UK is the most-represented nation in the top 100 with 25 institutions, followed by Canada and Australia with eight each
