Study in Slovakia

Slovakia's small size and mountainous terrain is possibly its biggest attraction, with almost 80 per cent of land 720m above sea level.

It’s dinky capital, Bratislava, can not only boast interesting history but is at the centre of the most dynamically developing regions, home to both quirky cafés and thick forests. A mix of past and present prevails with historic palaces neighbouring modern shopping centres.

At present there are 20 public universities, 10 private universities and three state universities and colleges in Slovakia.

Located in the capital, the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), is the largest and most significant university of technology in Slovakia, and is considered as one of the leading academic institutions in the country.

Other universities in Slovakia include the University of Economics in Bratislava, which is considered as one of the most important educational and scientific-research institutions in the country, and the Slovak University of Technology, also located in Bratislava.

Its sprawling mountains make it ideal for people looking for adventure with opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, caving and rambling the inspiring peaks of High Tatras. In total, Slovakia has nine national parks and 14 protected landscape areas.

Famous sons and daughters of Slovakia include model Adriana Karembeu, Marián Hossa, a professional ice hockey player and Daniela Hantuchová, a professional tennis player.
