This is an opportunity to apply for a Postdoctoral Researcher post in Face Lab, relating to a craniofacial project and the application of dental data to the creation of a 3D digital avatar. You will require a 3D animation, computer science and/or anatomical modelling background. A knowledge of dental data and 3D visualisation is desirable. Face Lab, led by Professor Caroline Wilkinson, is an award-winning collaborative unit that combines art and science to explore facial identity and representation. Comprising academics and PhD researchers, it pioneers innovative craniofacial projects in forensic identification and digital heritage, advancing interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange in heritage, arts, culture, and forensic investigation. Job Description We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow for a one-year full-time position with the possibility of extension. The selected candidate will be involved in the research of A. Vetešníková Šimková's working team. The work will involve independent bioinformatic processing of RNAseq data (transcriptome of fish immune organs), selection and validation of genes of interest at the level of molecular laboratory analyses, data evaluation and scientific interpretation of outputs in the form of preparation of scientific manuscripts for international journals, or further involvement in the form of bioinformatic analyses in ongoing project studies realized by A. Vetešníková Šimková's team. Key Duties: Bioinformatic data processing; statistical analyses of data sets; molecular-genetic analyses of fish tissues; independent professional interpretation of the obtained outputs; preparation of scientific publications. Skills and Qualifications The applicant should meet the following criteria PhD degree; English language proficiency C1 and above (verbal and written); independence in carrying out scientific tasks; adaptability (flexibility); communication skills; teamwork; organizational skills; the ability to think scientifically in broader contexts; advanced knowledge of bioinformatics (RNAseq, DEGs and others) and statistics, very good programming skills; advanced experience in molecular biological analyses – laboratory analyses and data evaluation (RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, RNAseq, qPCR, melting-point analysis); practical experience with fish tissue sampling and necropsy; practical experience with microscopy. Postdoctoral Research Associate - Sustainable & Inclusive Space Innovation for the Cislunar Economy – Multisensorial Communications and Analytical Visualization of Space Risks The Role and Department The Department of Management and Marketing at Durham University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to advance research and impact on the topic of Sustainable and Inclusive Space Innovation for the Cislunar Economy, with a particular emphasis on multisensorial communications and analytical visualization to mitigate emerging space risks. We welcome applications from those with research interests in the field of Space Innovation, Technology Governance, Multisensorial Sciences, and Analytical Visualization to join us.
