As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry funded research project where you will be part of the research team to develop advanced Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) scanning technologies. Job Responsibilities Participate in research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Conduct comprehensive literature review on NQR technology, including design approaches, scanning methods, signal processing techniques, and comparison with alternative detection technologies. ii. Support design and development of NQR prototype, including system architecture, component selection, and experimental setup. iii. Conduct lab and site tests to evaluate the performance of NQR prototype. iv. Generate design documents and test documents at every stage of development until the final prototype. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.  Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics; Specialization in RF/Microwave or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is preferred. Has solid knowledge of electronics, including circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware troubleshooting. Has relevant competence in the areas of Radio Frequency design and measurement; Familiarity with high-power amplifier systems is a plus. Has relevant experience in the areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design and implementation is a plus. Experience in electromagnetic simulation using CST Studio Suite and circuit simulation with PSpice, LTspice, or equivalent is an advantage. Experience with developing software for instrument control and data acquisition using LabVIEW is helpful. Key Competencies Strong experimental skills and theoretical knowledge in electronic circuits, and RF or DSP design, with the ability to apply hands-on prototyping and system development. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Self-directed learner who believes in continuous learning and development Proficient in technical writing and presentation  Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills Show strong initiative and take ownership of work

The Research Program Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki invites applications for a fixed-term  Project Planner position at the Meilahti Campus, starting June 2026 (or as agreed) for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension by agreement. We are seeking a highly motivated project planner to join an international team. Project Planner will support the Principal Investigator in matters related to grant application writing, project management and laboratory management. Job description The goal of this position is to provide high-level project planning, coordination, and research administration support to the Principal Investigator and research team. You will help ensure that projects progress efficiently from idea generation and grant preparation through implementation, compliance, and publication. The role is designed to strengthen the lab’s capacity for competitive grant success, high-quality project delivery, and timely dissemination of results. Your responsibilities will include: Grant support: Coordinate grant applications, support proposal writing/editing, and assist with reporting, milestones and deliverables;  Project management: Organize meetings, document decisions and action points, and proactively follow up on bottlenecks across parallel projects; Governance and compliance: Coordinate ethics applications and amendments; manage and track agreements and data/sample transfers (e.g., MTA/DTA), in line with institutional policies and GDPR requirements; Collaboration coordination: Serve as a key coordination point for collaborations with clinicians, biobanks, and core facilities; support logistics for data/sample access and transfers; Publication support: Support projects toward manuscript completion by coordinating inputs, timelines, revisions, and submission steps; assist with dissemination planning when needed; Lab operations: Support lab management tasks such as documentation systems, onboarding routines, and practical coordination that improves efficiency and reproducibility. The content of the position may be adjusted based on the selected candidate’s expertise. Requirements We are looking for a candidate with: A PhD degree in one of the fields: Systems Biology, Immunology, Metabolism, RNA biology Experience in research project preparation, administration, or research support roles Ability to work independently and professionally on multiple parallel processes, supporting the PI and the team Excellent scientific writing, communication, interpersonal, and networking skills Excellent command of English The role also involves collaboration with our partners worldwide. We seek to appoint a Senior Genomics Technician, to join our team. Position Overview The Genomics Technician Lead will work in the BRF Genotyping team. The appointee will work closely with other group members to expand our current mouse based NGS amplicon genotyping services to include screening genetically modified plants and increase our ecogenomics services for ANU, BPA and other external clients. They will be responsible for DNA extraction from plant material and other organisms, PCR and amplicon library preparation utilising high end liquid handling automation, data generation and handling. This position requires experience in molecular biology, and a high level of organisational skills, attention to detail as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with other team members, students and academics on a range of bioscience research topics. As a client-focused facility, effective communication skills and teamwork are essential, along with an interest in bioscience research. Responsibilities Provide information materials and consultation on studying abroad, exchange programs, funding, and scholarships. Assist in application and selection processes for international programs in coordination with Academic Affairs. Manage application procedures, coordinate nomination processes, and support students in preparing required documents for double-degree or other exchange programs. Coordinate with partner universities, and academic departments/faculties to create Learning Agreements and ensure credit transfer and academic recognition.
