* Bob Scott, chairman of Greenwich Peninsula Partnership, South London Business and Greenwich Theatre, will become chairman of Trinity Laban on August 1. Gavin Henderson, principal of Trinity College of Music, will become principal and chief executive; Anthony Bowne will become director of Laban; and Derek Aviss, deputy principal, will become director of Trinity.

* The London School of Economics and Political Science has appointed Anders Skrondal professor of statistics and chair in social statistics. He was head of the biostatistics group at the division of epidemiology and deputy director of the department of genes and environment in the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

* Roger Freeman, former Minister for Public Service, Privy Counsellor since 1993, life peer since 1997, consultant to PricewaterhouseCoopers, chair of the corporate finance advisory board for Pricewaterhouse-Coopers UK and chairman of the board of Thales UK, has been appointed chairman of the Cambridge University Challenge Fund, part of Cambridge Enterprise.

* Imperial College London's Tanaka Business School has made three appointments to its finance group, which will lead its MSc in risk management. Karim Abadir, who holds chairs in the economics and maths departments at York University, has been appointed professor of financial econometrics; Nizar Touzi, head of finance and insurance at the Centre de Recherche en Economie et Statistique in Paris, has been appointed professor of mathematical finance; and Andrea Buraschi, visiting associate professor of finance at Columbia University, professor of finance.
