David Fussey, vice-chancellor of the University of Greenwich for more than six years, is to retire early, because of ill-health. He will leave the university at the end of next July. A new appointment will be made to begin in August.
George Kessler, managing director of Kessler's Manufacturing and board member of the London Development Partnership, has been elected chairman of the London TEC Council. He succeeds Berjis Daver, who stepped down as chairman in July.
David Punter, professor of English studies at the University of Stirling, has been appointed to a chair in English at the University of Bristol from August next year.
Nicholas Cook, former wind engineering consultant at NJC Wind Engineering, has also joined Bristol, taking up a chair in industrial aerodynamics.
Harriet Jones, senior lecturer in contemporary British and European history at the University of Luton, has been seconded as acting director of the Institute of Contemporary British History at the University of London. Her role is to oversee the transition of the institute into the Institute of Historical Research. She replaces Peter Catterall, who has taken a one-year sabbatical in the United States.
Mitchell P. Koza, a former professor at Insead, has joined Cranfield School of Management as professor of international strategic management and director of the Centre for International Business.
