World University Rankings by Subject 2020: Arts and Humanities

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for arts and humanities subjects uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

This ranking highlights the universities that are leading across art, performing arts, design, languages, linguistics, literature, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology subjects.

This year’s table includes 536 universities, up from 506 last year.

Stanford University tops the table once again, while the University of Cambridge climbs two places to second, displacing the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which finishes fourth. The University of Oxford remains in third place, while Harvard University rounds out the top five.
