On the move

The University of Sheffield has appointed to its committee of university chairmen: Ron Haylock , chairman of council at the University of Nottingham and chairman of the committee; Karen Morgan , chairman of council at the University of the West of England and deputy chairman of the committee; David Fletcher , registrar and secretary of the University of Sheffield and secretary of the committee; and Jill Lauriston , senior assistant registrar at Sheffield and assistant secretary of the committee.

Colin McGuckin has been made a reader in the School of Life Sciences and Nick Petford has been made a reader in the Centre for Earth and Environmental Science Research at Kingston University . Both are former media fellows at The THES .

Bob Pulley , former dean of art and design at Falmouth College of Arts, has been appointed principal of West Dean College .

Alan Rawel , formerly of Middlesex University, has been appointed head of education and training at the Institute of Public Relations .

David Yates , a solicitor of the Supreme Court and a partner at Baker & McKenzie, has been appointed warden of Robinson College, University of Cambridge .
