University of Chester - African partnership mooted

A plan to deliver nursing programmes in Uganda is being explored by the University of Chester. The proposal is being assessed after a visit to the country organised by the university and a local hospital with links to a medical centre in the rural community of Kisiizi. Ann Bryan, head of community and child health at Chester's faculty of health and social care, said: "The school of nursing at Kisiizi was established ten years ago and currently has three cohorts of comprehensive enrolled nursing students, totalling 101. Its long-term aim is to deliver diploma-status programmes on site, so we are looking at the possibility of delivering a range of nurse education opportunities at the school."
