The University of York took the top prize at the Times Higher Education Awards 2010, picking up the title of University of the Year. A total of 18 awards were handed out at the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week, where more than 1,000 attendees celebrated the achievements of universities and colleges the length and breadth of the country. Among those recognised were Cary Cooper, distinguished professor of organisational psychology and health, Lancaster University Management School (Lord Dearing Lifetime Achievement Award), and Tony Mann, head of the department of mathematical sciences at the University of Greenwich (Most Innovative Teacher of the Year).
