Bob Nelson, controller, BBC Training and Development, has taken over as chair of the board of directors at the national training organisation for broadcast, film, video and multimedia, Skillset. He replaces Frank McGettigan.

Ferdinand von Prondzynski, professor of law and dean of social sciences at the University of Hull, has been appointed president of Dublin City University, Ireland, from July.

Francis Buttle, a former chair at Cranfield School of Management, has been appointed Littlewoods professor of customer relationship management at Manchester Business School. He will provide Littlewoods with a consultancy service for ten days a year.

Kevin Roberts, former professor of chemical process engineering at Heriot-Watt University, has been appointed to a chair of chemical engineering at the University of Leeds.

Michael Smith, former professor of atmospheric science at the University of Sunderland, has been appointed to a chair of atmospheric physics at the Leeds Environment Centre.

John Leach, former senior lecturer in the Centre for Studies in Science and Mathematics Education at Leeds, has been appointed to a chair of science education.

Richard Lynch, author of the best-selling textbook Corporate Strategy, has been appointed to a chair in strategic management at Middlesex University.

David Jenkins, former head of education and lifelong learning at Staffordshire Training and Enterprise Council, has been appointed director of widening participation and access at the University of Staffordshire.

Henley Management College has appointed four new governors to its court. They are: Ulf Brasen, chief executive of Tetra Pak Limited; Julia Cleverdon, chief executive of Business in the Community; Rachel Lomax, permanent secretary at the Department of Social Security; and Roland Schulz, executive vice-president of Henkel KgaA. In June they will help select a successor to principal Ray Wild, who is leaving at the end of the year.
