University of Exeter

The University of Exeter is a world-leading research centre in the genetics of diabetes, improving diagnosis, treatment and care across the world. For more than 30 years, scientists have worked with patients and healthcare partners, making discoveries that are swiftly translated into healthcare, to improve lives worldwide. Exeter’s unique precision diabetes approach focuses on getting the right treatment for each patient, as swiftly as possible. The collaboration provided free genetic testing for diabetes for people in more than 200 countries, and has discovered 21 different genetic types of diabetes, excelled in improving diagnosis throughout the world, and optimised treatment for all diabetes types.

The Post Office Scandal is one of the largest miscarriages of justice in modern British history. Current estimates suggest as many as 1,000 victims were wrongly prosecuted, many more lost their livelihoods, and thousands had money taken from them. A team led by Professor Richard Moorhead from the University of Exeter and funded by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has been working on evidence of lawyer misconduct and with those involved and their loved ones to track and record the impact on their lives and health.

The Global Carbon Budget (GCB) is the most comprehensive scientific assessment on global carbon emissions and sinks. Led by the University of Exeter, GCB is a collaboration of more than 130 scientists from over 90 institutions around the world. Its annual report is a key measure of progress towards the goals of the Paris Agreement, providing an independent, peer-reviewed update.
