About the University of Exeter
Basic information and contact details for the University of Exeter
At the University of Exeter, we combine cutting-edge research, inclusive education and exceptional teaching to create future-ready graduates in one of the UK’s most beautiful regions.
A member of the prestigious Russell Group, we are home to a global community of students and staff from more than 150 countries. Our undergraduate teaching has been awarded Triple Gold in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework, placing us among just four Russell Group universities to achieve this highest distinction. We also offer a wide range of postgraduate taught and postgraduate research degrees, shaped and informed by internationally recognised research.
Discover our campuses
Our four campuses are located in Devon and Cornwall in the South West of England: one of the UK’s most beautiful regions and consistently ranked among the safest in England and Wales.
• Our Streatham and St Luke’s campuses are in the historic riverside city of Exeter in Devon, close to the coast and surrounded by stunning countryside. Exeter is a walkable, student-friendly city, offering everything from major brands to independent international grocery shops and restaurants. Excellent transport links with the rest of the UK put London and Birmingham within three and a half hours by train.
• Our Penryn and Truro campuses are in Cornwall, where you’ll find unspoilt beaches, dramatic coastlines, and a rich cultural heritage. Cornwall is also the heart of the UK’s renewable energy revolution, offering you unique opportunities to engage with leading sustainability-focused industries and initiatives that bring learning to life and connect directly to the future economy.
All campuses combine state-of-the-art learning facilities, historic architecture, beautiful green spaces, extensive sport and fitness facilities, and a range of accommodation options, creating the perfect study environment and a supportive community where you can find your place and your people.
A global network of opportunities
Our reach extends far beyond our campuses. We collaborate with leading global partners such as Université Paris-Saclay, The University of Queensland, IIT Delhi, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, creating opportunities for joint research, student mobility, and industry collaboration.
Our graduates are ranked among the top 10 most targeted by the UK’s leading employers (High Fliers Research 2025). We are also the Russell Group’s leading provider of degree apprenticeship, alongside an expanding range of flexible online courses. Wherever and however you study, you’ll join a lifelong Exeter community of over 195,000 alumni with access to ongoing, award-winning careers support.
Future positive
Looking ahead, we continue to invest in the things that matter most, including education, research, partnerships, facilities, and the student experience. Digital innovation and entrepreneurship are embedded across our courses, ensuring our graduates are equipped with the skills needed to lead, adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world. We continue to invest in scholarships, widening participation and sustainable campuses, making Exeter a true community of opportunity where talent from every background can succeed and social mobility and inclusivity are at the heart of education.
Guided by our Strategy 2030, we are harnessing the power of our education and research to create a sustainable, healthy, and socially just future, for all.
