Description of University New Uzbekistan University (NewUU) is Uzbekistan’s first comprehensive research university where research and education are integrated. Located at the heart of greater Central Asia, we are building the nation’s first autonomous institution as the country embarks to conclude its first decade of political and market economy reforms. In a long road ahead of making lasting transformations, the country aims to have its first globally ranked institution among the 1000 best universities in the world by 2030. NewUU aims to become Central Asia’s premier university through an official partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Jameel Abdul Latif-World Education Lab (J-WEL) and Technical University of Munich (TUM) International. About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Dean of our Medical School. The Dean will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education, research, and clinical practice within our institution. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong academic background, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all academic, administrative, and financial aspects of the Medical School. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to enhance educational programs, research initiatives, and clinical services. Promote faculty development and support recruitment, retention, and mentoring of high-quality staff. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and maintain the highest standards of medical education and research. Build partnerships with healthcare providers, industry, and government to advance the school’s mission. Represent the Medical School within the university and to external stakeholders. Qualifications: Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with advanced qualifications (e.g., PhD, MPH) preferred. Significant experience in academic medicine, including leadership roles. Strong track record of research and publication. Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations and manage multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.

We invite applications for two postdoc positions in optics in our institute. Deadline for receipt of applications: May 1, 2026. The candidate will work in the newly created Laboratory of Material Science, Laser, and Nanotechnology under the supervision of Prof. Rashid Ganeev. The members of our laboratory work on the applications of lasers for material science, nonlinear optics, and nanotechnologies. The studies will include the laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, high-order harmonic generation in laser-induced plasmas, gases, and solids, low-order nonlinear optical characterization of quantum dots, thin films, and other materials. Academic Qualifications and Skills Required: PhD in Physics with a strong grasp on Optics and Lasers. Demonstrated record of research activity. Strong experimental skill with a background in some of the following subjects: Lasers, Nonlinear Optics, Nanostructuring, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy, High-order Harmonic Generation. Programming skill. Requirements from candidates: Ph.D. degree from a reputed University in Mathematics field; Teaching and research experience for the Full-time Professor rank, at least 10 years; Associate Professor rank, at least 5 years; Assistant Professor rank, at least 1 year International track record of research and professional achievements; Excellent record in teaching/overseeing undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs; Expertise in one or more specialized areas of Mathematics.
