HARBIN, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Despite it being her first academic visit to Harbin, capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang Province, Bronwyn Wake, chief editor of the journal Nature Climate Change, was immediately blown away by the professionalism of the Chinese scholars.

On January 9, Xu Qin, Secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of Heilongjiang People’s Congress, and Liang Huiling, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Heilongjiang province, met with the university presidents attending the “Annual Presidents Meeting on Building World-Class Universities and Annual Presidents Forum.” Chen Jie, Secretary of the CPC Harbin Institute of Technology, and Han Jiecai, President of Harbin Institute of Technology, also participated in the meeting.

Professor Hongliang Yi’s team at the School of Energy Science and Engineering has made significant breakthroughs in the study of radiative heat transfer, discovering an anomalous temperature dependence of thermal radiation in low-dimensional materials. Their findings, titled Unconventional Thermophotonic Charge Density Wave, have been published in Physical Review Letters.

Recently, Professor Lingling Tao's research group from the School of Physics made significant progress in antiferromagnetic spintronics.

The 2025 BRICS Engineering Congress took place from 24 to 26 April in Shenzhen. The event was organized under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) and hosted by Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Guangdong Association for Science and Technology and Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology.
