Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) was established in 1969 in Indianapolis, the United States. However, its roots can be traced back to 1891, when Indiana University started classes in Indianapolis. The university as it is today was established in 1969 with the merger of Indiana University and Purdue University. Indianapolis, known locally as Indy, is the state of Indiana’s capital city. The university has 17 schools and two colleges offering over 550 undergraduate, graduate and professional programmes. The schools and colleges include: dentistry; education; engineering and technology; health and human sciences; art and design; informatics and computing; business; liberal arts; philanthropy; law; medicine; nursing; public and environmental affairs; public health; science; and social work. When students take a course in one of these faculties, they can choose to take classes online, on campus, or a mix of the two. Students can also choose to participate in a study abroad programme while at university, on either a short or long term basis. Past students have gone on to study in the UK, Belize, The British Virgin Islands and over 80 other countries around the world. Students can join over 500 student organisations or join a sporting club.

Josephine Butler College is a friendly, vibrant, and inclusive community. Opened in 2006, we are named after the 19th-century social reformer, Josephine Butler, who had a profound influence on society's view of women's health and education. Her legacy of advocacy, commitment to social justice and kindness serves as an inspiration to our students, staff, and broader College community. Josephine Butler College is led by Professor Gillian Hampden-Thompson, who took up the position as Principal/Head of College in July 2023. This is an excellent and unique development opportunity for a current member of the Durham University community. Furthermore, the College is currently heading towards celebrating its 20-year anniversary during the 2026-27 academic year, allowing the successful candidate to not only make a contribution to those celebrations but also enjoy being part of the community during those celebrations. The acting Vice-Principal will be a member of the College senior management team and will have a strong strategic and developmental emphasis. The post holder will be involved in a wide range of activities aimed at furthering Josephine Butler College and University strategy, especially in relation to the personal development of students, embedding the wider student experience, and the future development of the College. Working as a part of a close-knit team, you will support the provision of student support within the College in partnership with the Student Support and Wellbeing Directorate. The Vice-Principal will act as deputy to the College Principal (a) in ensuring the College offers a supportive and stimulating environment for academic study, cultural and developmental activities, and social interaction which engages students, staff, Senior Common Room members, visitors and alumni; and (b) in promoting and enabling intellectual curiosity, personal effectiveness, wellbeing and resilience, and a sense of community and responsibility among all students. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams. The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of computational mechanics and computational geomechanics.
