Gill Tucker , of the University of East London, has been appointed vice-principal of Napier University.

Recent appointments at the University of Leeds include: Louise Ackers , formerly of the University of Lancaster, to the chair of European law; Paul Torremans , previously at the University of Leicester, to the chair of business law; Tom Allen , formerly of the University of Durham, to the chair of private law.

John Field , formerly of the University of Warwick, has been appointed director of academic innovation and continuing education at the University of Stirling .

Jotun Hein , formerly of Aarhus University in Denmark, has been appointed to the newly established professorship of bioinformatics at the University of Oxford .

Colin Monk , formerly of the University of Portsmouth, has been appointed director of business and marketing at the University of Brighton .

Sally Morgan , head of fine arts at the University of the West of England, has been appointed to the chair of fine arts at Massey University , in Wellington, New Zealand.

Susan Segal-Horn , formerly of the University of Kent at Canterbury, has taken up an appointment as professor of international strategy at the Open University business school.

Diana Walford , director of the Public Health Laboratory Service and former deputy chief medical office of England, has been elected principal of Mansfield College, University of Oxford .
