GOLDSMITHS COLLEGE, LONDON. Roger Slee, lecturer in the school of cultural and policy studies at Queensland University of Technology, to the chair in education; Howard Caygill, lecturer in the school of economic and social studies, University of East Anglia, to the chair in cultural history; Peter Smith, professor of psychology at University of Sheffield, to the chair of psychology; Nelson Stephens, senior lecturer in the department of computing mathematics at University of Wales College of Cardiff, to the chair of computer science.


Philip Brown, formerly at the University of Liverpool, has been appointed to the Pfizer chair of medical statistics.


Graham Megson, lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, has been appointed professor of computer studies; Christine Williams, lecturer in the school of biological sciences at the University of Surrey, has been appointed professor of human nutrition; George Tucker, director of studies in modern languages at Downing College, Cambridge, has been appointed professor of French studies.
