A new research partnership spanning two centuries and involving 100 academics has been formed by the University of Warwick and the University of California, Los Angeles. The institutions have signed a deal to collaborate in 17th- and 18th-century studies, with scholars from both universities sharing research bases in Venice, Italy and at a UCLA library boasting a large collection of rare books and manuscripts from the era. Jacqueline Labbe, a Warwick professor who specialises in the poetry and prose of the Romantic period, said: "This partnership will allow a critical mass of 17th- and 18th-century scholars to debate and explore key issues of the period. We look forward to our first co-operative conference and to developing research exchanges for academic staff and postgraduate students."
