Fuel shortages, arguments over tolls to cross the Firth of Forth, binge drinking, the credit crunch and the sensitive subject of MPs' expenses - Scottish politicians were debating them all in the 13th century, historians at the University of St Andrews have revealed. They have created a fully searchable digital database of the Scottish Parliament from its first surviving Act in 1235 to its dissolution in 1707 through the Act of Union.
