University of Manchester - £5m grant for nuclear research

十月 2, 2008

British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) has given the University of Manchester £5 million to develop its nuclear research programme and expand its training programmes for nuclear engineers. Under the endowment, a series of professorial chair appointments will be made, lasting up to five years, in a variety of research fields. In future, it is expected that each chair will be able to generate enough research income to be self-sustaining. Michael Parker, group chief executive of BNFL, said the funds would assist in ensuring that nuclear research in the North West "continues to be rightly at the heart of the global nuclear renaissance".
