The Scottish Government is to fund a new £10 million life sciences institute at the University of Dundee. Sir Philip Cohen, a bioscientist and director of research at the College of Life Sciences, will head the Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling, which aims to create a critical mass of key researchers to boost Scotland's biotechnology industry. Professor Cohen said: "Cell signalling is one of the largest branches of the life sciences and an area of great importance to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries."
