University of Bolton - Dazzling developments

十月 16, 2008

Scientists at the University of Bolton have won a major research grant to develop cheaper and more efficient solar cell technology. The project, led by professors Guosheng Shao and Jack Luo from the Centre for Material Research and Innovation, has been awarded more than £900,000 by the Technology Strategy Board. The team aims to develop technology for a new generation of solar cells, using thin-film technology to cut the amount of light-absorbing material needed to create a cell. By using a new material system, they also aim to increase the efficiency of the cell's solar spectrum absorption, giving greater energy conversion.
