Universities of Bradford and Aberystwyth - Lie detector to identify smugglers

十月 9, 2008

The research is part of a £500,000 project to develop technologies to aid border-control agencies in identifying people trying to take illegal goods through customs. Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the system uses a technique called "real-time dynamic passive profiling", which is based on monitoring facial expressions, eye movement and pupil changes, both visually and thermally. Hassan Ugail, head of visual computing research at Bradford, said: "What we are proposing to develop is essentially a passive lie detector."
