* University College London has appointed Sandy Shandro , head of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's restructuring and insolvency group, dean of the Faculty of Law.
* The Higher Education Academy has appointed Rob Cuthbert , professor and deputy vice-chancellor at the University of the West of England, a senior associate for 2006-07.
* Lancaster University has appointed Anne Garden director of its Centre for Medical Educa-tion.
* Nottingham Trent University has appointed Keith Gaines , senior litigation partner at Lovells law firm and a member of the International Bar Association, dean of the Law School.
