The University of East Anglia has appointed: Aedin Cassidy , former head of molecular nutrition at Unilever, to a chair in diet and health; Vincent Moulton , formerly at Uppsala University, professor in computational biology at Norwich Research Park; John Mack , former keeper of ethnography at the British Museum, professor in the School of World Art Studies and Museology; Mark Jancovich , professor of film studies at Nottingham University, to a chair in the School of Film and Television; Mike Reading , director of the Advanced Thermal Methods Unit at Loughborough University, professor in pharmaceutical characterisation science; Hans Peter Deigner , former chief scientific officer at SIRS-Lab, to a chair in biomedicinal chemistry; and Stuart Barnes , formerly reader in the School of Information Management at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and Roland Kaye , former dean of the Open University Business School, to chairs in the School of Management.
The Centre for Celtic Studies at Aberdeen University has recruited: David Dumville , professor at Cambridge University; Bernhard Maier , of the University of Bonn; Clare Downham , of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies; Rob Dunbar , formerly at Glasgow University and a member of Brd na Gaidlig; Michelle MacLeod , former language planning manager of Bòrd na Gàidlig; Moray Watson , former education officer with Ionad Chaluim Chille in Islay and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig; and Colin Williams , professor of Welsh at Cardiff University.
