A robotic rat that can seek out and identify objects using its whiskers has been developed by a group of scientists from three universities. The "ratbot" was developed by the Bristol Robotics Lab, a partnership between the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield. The universities say it is a significant milestone in a pan-European project to develop biologically inspired artificial intelligence systems.
