ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS The Department of Applied Mathematics comprises academic staff with active research in analysis of differential equations, numerical analysis and scientific computing, control theory and optimization, operational research, machine learning, probability, and related applications. The Department delivers courses for three four-year undergraduate mathematics programmes and also provides service teaching for other programmes across the University. At the postgraduate level, it offers a Ph.D programme in Mathematical Sciences as well as a master’s programme in Applied Mathematics. POSITION OVERVIEW The Department of Applied Mathematics at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) invites applications for faculty appointments in Mathematics and AI at any level. Research activities include the publication of research articles, presenting in international conferences, and generating research income. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognised lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (AUS). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC:A or above.
