RESPONSIBILITIES We seek to appoint a visionary and entrepreneurial Founding Dean to lead this new academy from the ground up. The Founding Dean will be a member of the senior management team of the University, reporting directly to the University Vice President for Academic Affairs. A distinguished track record of scholarly achievement commensurate with a full professor appointment. Significant and progressive academic leadership experience (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, Head of Department, etc.) with demonstrated success. A proven ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and build academic communities. A strong track record in securing external research funding and a clear vision for growing a research institute/enterprise. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse team. A strong commitment to the success of the academy in all aspects. The Associate Dean serves as a member of CIE and HeXie Syntegrative Management Team (CH-SMT). Reporting directly to the Executive Dean and Director, the Associate Dean provides strategic leadership across the College and Academy in programme development, educational quality, the student learning experience, and the enhancement of learning and teaching. The Associate Dean also represents CIE and HeXie Academy on the University Learning and Teaching Committee. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.D. degree in a relevant subject from a world-renowned university. A senior academic appointment at the level of Associate Professor or above, with a strong record of teaching excellence, academic leadership, and scholarly achievement. Significant experience in learning and teaching leadership within higher education, including programme development, curriculum design, quality assurance, or educational innovation. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary higher education practices, student-centred learning, curriculum enhancement, and educational quality management. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS The Department of Applied Mathematics comprises academic staff with active research in analysis of differential equations, numerical analysis and scientific computing, control theory and optimization, operational research, machine learning, probability, and related applications. The Department delivers courses for three four-year undergraduate mathematics programmes and also provides service teaching for other programmes across the University.
