An Associate Professor is expected to demonstrate a significant commitment to academic excellence in teaching and learning, research, and any other forms of knowledge transfer, at the highest levels of national and regional excellence, with some international achievement or the potential thereof Teaching and Learning Support Design, develop, and deliver various courses at various academic levels. Collaborate with other faculty members to implement SU teaching and learning strategy. Ensure content, delivery methods, and materials align with defined learning outcomes. Create and enhance teaching materials, methods, and approaches to improve subject area delivery. Contribute to the development of good academic practices within the faculty. Utilize appropriate teaching, learning support, and assessment methods for effective knowledge transfer. Play an active role in academic advising of assigned students. Develop student skills by identifying learning needs and defining appropriate objectives. Supervise laboratory teams in related courses as needed). Moderate assigned courses and instructional materials, focusing on the following areas: Ensuring that instructional materials are relevant, up to date, and adequate to achieve the course learning outcomes (CLOs) and provide feedback to the course coordinator. A Research Professor is expected to demonstrate a significant commitment to developing research excellence and other knowledge development and transfer aligned with Oman’s national strategic orientation. A RP may be involved in minimal teaching and learning activities as and when required. The key role and responsibilities of an RP should include but are not exclusive to, supporting the research enterprise and contributing to raising the teaching and learning profile of the university. Specific areas include: Research and Scholarship Leading the development of new knowledge by being at the centre of research activities as a principal investigator (PI) and co-PI. Facilitating knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer endeavours by engaging with relevant units in Sohar University dealing with incubation and commercialisation. Supporting the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the University research strategy. Developing internal and external networks to foster collaborative partnerships and share information and ideas that promote the subject matter expertise and visibility. Leading bids for paid-for research and consultancies to attract external income to the university. Producing research outputs of the appropriate defined standard in Scopus journals or higher. Making presentations at recognised international conferences to promote the visibility of Sohar University research endeavours. Being routinely involved in complex and important negotiations internally and with external bodies to advance research engagement at Sohar University. Playing a significant role in developing and increasing the quality of the teaching-research nexus within the broader context of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL).
