Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (Post Ref.: 25/312) Established in 2021, the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management is a department-level, research-focused unit which holds the Lingnan University-Sun Yat-sen University GBA Research Institute for Insurance and a Risk Management (LU-SYSU IRM). The Institute’s goal is to become a leading centre of excellence in research activities and talent trainings for the risk management and insurance industry in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and the Region. The Institute will also contribute to developing Hong Kong as a premier international insurance hub through its academic and practice-oriented research as well as other related activities such as organizing industry-oriented forums, hosting various conferences and symposiums for academics and practitioners, and conducting practice-oriented surveys. The Institute is looking for a Research Assistant Professor, who will primarily focus on conducting scholarly research and obtain external grants, teach undergraduate/ postgraduate courses and contribute to services. General Requirements Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification in a Risk and Insurance or related discipline for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. In addition, the candidates should demonstrate strong commitment to quality research activities. Ideally, the candidate would have relevant experience in recognized institutions and a sound track record in research, scholarly activities, publications in top-tier journals and competitive grants. Applications are now invited for the following posts: Associate Professor/Assistant Professor Division of Artificial Intelligence (Post Ref.: 25/72) The Division is looking for an experienced Associate Professor/Assistant Professor who will (1) conduct high-quality research in the state-of-the-art areas in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, large language models, and computer vision; (2) secure external competitive research grants in various funding bodies; (3) teach multiple subjects in both undergraduate-level and postgraduate-level programs in data science areas focusing on industrial data sciences, blockchain, data sciences, artificial intelligence, etc.; (4) work on the promotions and admissions as well as the operations for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and (5) contribute to other administrative duties as required by the supervisors. General Requirements Candidates should have (i) a doctoral degree in a relevant data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, information engineering, or other relevant areas; (ii) a strong publication record and outstanding citation counts in the research areas; (iii) experience in applying external grants and teaching relevant courses and relevant programme administrative experience will be advantages; (iv) good command of English and Chinese (including Mandarin). For the post of Associate Professor, six years of relevant experience in the tenure-track academic post should be required. The candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Professor. Appointment The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. We are launching the LU Presidential Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme (PPRF) and invite applications from early career researchers from all over the world. Duration and Requirements of the Fellowship The duration of the Fellowship will normally be three years. The appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of 1 year, and further appointment for a period of 2 years is subject to the appointee’s satisfactory performance. The appointees are required to submit applications for the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS) or the JC STEM Early Career Research Fellowship for Translation and Application (JC STEM ECRF), and are encouraged to apply for other local / overseas grants or fellowship schemes.
