Department of Building and Real Estate Teaching Fellow in Construction and Real Estate Technology (Ref. 260327018) The Department of Building and Real Estate is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment. The Department offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. It has an undergraduate student body of over 600 full-time students and a postgraduate student body of over 300. The Department currently has a total of 30 full-time academic / teaching staff, 20 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel. The Department is looking for enthusiastic, established and suitably qualified person to join the Department to take part in a number of teaching and research activities. Duties The appointee will be required to: (a)    conduct lectures, tutorials and supervise students at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in construction technology, engineering management and related areas. Some evening teaching is expected; (b)    prepare teaching materials including hand-outs, presentations, coursework assignments, examination papers, etc.;  (c)    meet with students during office or assigned hours on academic matters, career issues and other appropriate matters; (d)    assess students’ study progress by periodic evaluations through coursework assignments, tests and examinations according to established grading scheme / policy; (e)    propose / plan new programmes, design / review subject / programme curriculum, and design / facilitate learning activities; (f)     contribute to subject / programme validation and coordinate programme quality assurance processes; (g)    help promote teaching quality by leading / organising teaching development projects, and/or chairing / serving on teaching-related committees / panels, and by means of workshops / forums and by coaching / mentoring other junior teaching staff to become better teachers; (h)    engage actively in scholarly activities; (i)     perform administrative duties as and when called upon by the Head of Unit; (j)     render professional service to the community and support activities that promote or foster links with the profession in the industry and/or in the community, e.g. serving on committees of external bodies of the profession, etc.; and (k)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates. Qualifications Applicants should have:  (a)    a relevant master’s degree in Construction or a closely related field, plus not less than three years of post-qualification tertiary teaching experience and/or relevant professional, practical or industrial experience;  (b)    strong competencies in design and delivery of teaching, curriculum and pedagogy development, and subject administration;  (c)    a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and (d)    good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to those with programme management and leadership. Holder of relevant professional qualification will be favourably considered. Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science The Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) (retitled from the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics in July 2026) is a world-leading academic organisation for education and research in geomatics and related fields. The Department is dedicated to the acquisition, modelling, analysis and management of spatially referenced data for a wide range of applications in land surveying, geo-information technology and smart cities. The Department offers a range of academic programmes for both local and overseas students, including the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics / Urban Informatics and Smart Cities, Master of Science in Geomatics / Urban Informatics and Smart Cities, and Doctor/Master of Philosophy. LSGS has a strong research programme covering areas such as geographical information science, spatial big data analytics, satellite positioning, ubiquitous positioning, photogrammetry and remote sensing, geodesy and geodynamics, environmental monitoring, geo-hazards studies, intelligent transport systems, smart cities, geographical social science, utility system management and near-surface geophysical survey. LSGS has a number of well-equipped research and teaching laboratories. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS Assistant Professor in Optimization and Operations Research / Statistics and Data Science/ Financial Mathematics / Engineering and Computational Mathematics / Mathematical Science / Actuarial Science (Ref. 260713005) The Department of Applied Mathematics (AMA) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences. Apart from making a significant contribution to most of other academic programmes of the University by providing service teaching, the Department also offers master programmes in Applied Mathematics for Science and Technology, Operational Research and Risk Analysis and Quantitative Finance and FinTech. Starting from 2025/26 academic year, the Department offers a new Bachelor Scheme in Applied Mathematics and Finance Analytics and Fast-track Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes and will launch a new master programme, MSc in Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence Technology in 2026/27. Members of the Department have expertise in applied optimization and optimal control, engineering computation, operational research, management science and applied statistics, FinTech, data science and machine learning. The University of Texas at Dallas ranks our faculty's research 38th in the world and 5th in Asia (as of March 2026). MM currently has around 60 full-time academic staff who are dedicated to providing cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills for our students in three key areas of business — Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems. The Management discipline of the Department invites applications for open-ranked faculty positions in the Organisational Behavior and Human Resources (OBHR) and Strategic Management areas. The faculty members in the Management discipline of MM regularly publish their research in top-tier journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, and other premier outlets. Conditions of Service The compensation package, teaching loads, and research support are highly competitive. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
