The Department currently has a total of 30 full-time academic / teaching staff, 20 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel. The team is the first group to offer Biomedical Engineering related undergraduate programme in Hong Kong, and has made great achievements in BME education, innovative research, and technology transfer. Currently BME has six thematic research areas, including Biomedical Imaging, Sensing, AI and Wearable Technology, Brain-Machine Interface and Neural Engineering, Molecular/Cellular Engineering and Biomaterials, Precision Diagnostics and Therapy, Prosthetics-Orthotics, Smart Ageing and Rehabilitation Engineering, and Sports Science and Technology.
