Dublin Institute of Technology

Established in 1992, the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) is one of Ireland’s largest higher education institutions.

As a modern university, it places considerable emphasis on delivering practical, hands on teaching designed to meet the needs of industry. Its offers approximately 150 degree programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across faculties of Arts, Tourism, Business, Engineering & the Built Environment, and Sciences and Health.

In place of mass lectures, most learning at DIT takes place in small classes to provide students with one-on-one tuition and small group learning. DIT also offers support and facilities to students showing entrepreneurial spirit looking to and set up their own business.

Student exchange and research programmes are in place with universities across the world, stretching as far as India, the USA, China and Brazil. DIT also partners with the Mozambique Eyecare Project, allowing undergraduates the opportunity to study a course in Mozambique’s capital, Nampula, and marking the first international project of its kind in the country. Postgraduate students can undertake a joint master's degree with universities in Chicago and Louisiana.

About 20% of DIT’s 20,000-strong student population come from outside Ireland. The university also prides itself on its work in the local community, where it works with the Access and Civic Engagement service to offer underrepresented groups the chance to study and learn.

With six campuses based in Dublin and plans to develop more, DIT is a growing institution that places diversity, innovation and critical inquiry central to its mission. It boasts subject strengths in food and health sciences, economic and business development; environmental sustainability, information and communication technologies, creative arts and media.

Outside of the classroom, students can choose from 150 sports clubs and societies to get involved with on campus.
