Germany has one of the most advanced healthcare systems in the world, offering medical students a rich environment for both academic learning and clinical practice. Well connected by air, rail and road, Frankfurt’s central location makes it ideal for international students.

European University Cyprus (EUC) has brought its internationally recognised School of Medicine to Frankfurt, allowing students to earn a fully accredited Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in English. Set in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities, the Frankfurt campus has quickly attracted students from across the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Canada and other countries in Europe.

Academic excellence with international recognition

EUC’s School of Medicine is accredited in Cyprus and recognised across the EU, meaning graduates can continue their medical training and practice in multiple countries without additional licensing barriers. The programme is fully taught in English. This allows students to begin their studies without prior German-language skills, which is introduced gradually to support clinical integration. The core medical degree adheres to EU-wide standards that underpin Directive 2005/36/EC’s recognition framework.

The school’s faculty consists of experienced academics, researchers and practising physicians from Europe, many of whom have trained and worked in leading hospitals. This blend of academic and practical expertise ensures that students receive both the theoretical foundation and real-world insights needed for a successful medical career.

EUC places among the top 501–600 universities worldwide for medicine and health sciences in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject. This achievement reflects the university’s commitment to research excellence, teaching quality and international engagement. For students, it signifies that they are studying at an institution recognised for shaping future healthcare professionals in Cyprus and Germany.

Facilities and clinical training

The Frankfurt campus is equipped with modern anatomy laboratories, advanced simulation centres and dedicated clinical skills spaces that replicate real-life medical environments. Through strong partnerships with hospitals and healthcare providers in the Frankfurt region, students gain clinical exposure and put their learning into practice from the first year.

The early integration of clinical practice helps students translate theoretical knowledge into practical skills, strengthening their interprofessional communication and interest in medicine. Hands-on experience is integral to the MD programme, which enables students to develop advanced clinical competencies and interact confidently with patients during their formal training at hospitals. All clinical training affiliations are approved by the appropriate authorities.

Students from both the Frankfurt and Nicosia campuses can gain exposure to a broad range of specialities and subspecialities through a wide network of private and state-run hospitals. The School of Medicine continually expands its international partnerships to enhance the scope and quality of clinical education.

EUC maintains collaboration agreements with renowned medical centres across the world. In Cyprus, these include the German Medical Institute, the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus and the American Medical Center. In Greece, partners include IASO General Hospital, the European Interbalkan Medical Center and Athens Medical Center. In the US, the university collaborates with Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Larkin Community Hospital, while in Germany, affiliated institutions include St Elisabethen Hospital and the Frankfurt Red Cross Hospital.

Additionally, the school has developed an international network of summer externships that helps EUC medical students participate in clinical and research training at leading hospitals and universities in the US, the UK, Israel and Greece.

Unlike many European medical schools that require standardised entrance exams, EUC applies a school-based admissions model focused on academic performance and personal interviews. This holistic approach broadens accessibility while maintaining academic standards.

EUC invests heavily in modern infrastructure, featuring simulation centres, anatomy and dissection labs, and advanced biomedical research facilities. Small class sizes and close faculty mentorship ensure personalised guidance, preparing students for international licensing pathways in the US and the UK while maintaining professional mobility within the EU. In practice, this means that a medical qualification recognised in one EU member state can be formally recognised in another, subject to national application processes, thereby supporting graduates who wish to pursue careers across the EU.

One of the defining features of EUC Frankfurt is its international community. Students from more than 30 nationalities work and study together, which fosters cross-cultural collaboration and prepares them for careers in diverse healthcare environments. This multicultural setting, combined with the university’s emphasis on communication and teamwork, equips graduates with the interpersonal skills vital for modern medicine.

Looking ahead: new programmes and campus expansion

EUC Frankfurt is poised for significant growth. In 2026, the campus introduced four new programmes in the medical and health sciences, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees and PhD programmes. By 2028, a major campus expansion will add new academic buildings, research facilities and student amenities, strengthening EUC’s position as a leading hub for medical education in Central Europe.

Your pathway to a global medical career

Beyond world-class education, the EUC School of Medicine in Frankfurt offers an entry point into the European and global healthcare network. With modern facilities, strong clinical links and an international campus life, it provides a comprehensive medical education at the heart of Europe. For students from the UK, Scandinavia, Central Europe and beyond, it represents an ideal blend of quality, recognition and opportunity.
