Description The Embodied AI and Robotics (AIR) Laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Engineer to support applied research and development in artificial intelligence and robotics. The successful candidate will contribute to projects in Embodied AI, focusing on integrating AI-driven perception, reasoning, and action to enable intelligent robotic behavior across diverse environments. The position involves developing and testing embodied intelligence systems that combine vision-language-action (VLA) modeling, robotic perception and interaction, and autonomous task execution. The Research Engineer will assist in system design, software implementation, and experimental evaluation on robotic platforms, working closely with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students. The Embodied AI and Robotics Lab (AIR) develops intelligent robotic systems capable of understanding, learning, and acting in complex, dynamic settings. The lab’s work lies at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal learning, and robotics, advancing next-generation embodied agents that interact naturally and safely with humans and their surroundings. The lab collaborates closely with NYU’s global network, including NYU New York, and offers a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment. Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience. Candidates should demonstrate technical proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Embodied AI and robot learning Vision-language-action (VLA) or multimodal AI modeling Perception, control, or interaction for robotic systems Deep learning or applied machine learning for robotics Practical experience with robotic hardware, software development (e.g., Python, ROS, PyTorch, TensorFlow), and AI-based experimentation is highly desirable. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us and study for your PhD where you will develop a novel textile-based wearable sensing system combining multiple sensor inputs. We are seeking 1 outstanding Doctoral Researcher (DR) candidate for a fully-funded studentship. The studentship is offered as part of the H2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network funded by the Europen Commission “Holistic integration of eco-Friendly dEsign tools and mateRials, fabrication techNologies for the responsible co-creation of future Sustainable integrated electronic systems” ‘FERNS’. The studentship covers UK fees and provides a generous salary, consumables and travel budget The network brings together 20 universities, research institutes and industrial partners from eight countries. Our aim is to train the next generation of researchers in the implementation of eco-design approaches for the realisation of sustainable electronics.  You will be based in the Centre for Flexible Electronics and E-Textiles (C-FLEET) and will research the combination of replaceable enzymatic electrochemical lactate sensors alongside heart rate (electrocardiogram (ECG)) electrodes and capaciflector breathing rate sensors. The systems will be combined with systems electronics and fabricated using sustainable, biocompatible and biodegradable materials where possible. The system will be implemented in a smart chest band and will be designed to facilitate end-of-life processing and separation of waste streams.  Your responsibilities include:  define the research questions and plan, reviewing literature and conducting independent research collaborate with other colleagues across C-FLEET, and with FERNS partners to develop novel integrated sensing platforms with low environmental footprints. The project will entail one or two extended periods (1 month minimum) of study at our partners laboratories. engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities report progress and disseminating results in high-impact journals, conferences and other venues. FERNS is about young researchers training as much as technological innovations. DRs in the network will gain transversal skills in: communication data management project organisation collaboration and teamwork entrepreneurship and innovation research and ethics intersectoral exposure to understand real-world challenges. Entry requirements: You must have a UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent in one of the following or related disciplines: electronic engineering electrical engineering You must fulfil the following Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network criteria:  you must be doctoral candidates, not already in possession of a doctoral degree you should comply with the mobility rules: you must not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date.  you will be expected to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and will be required to develop a wide-ranging skill set. You should be able to start the job by March 2026. About us The Headache Group sits administratively within the Wolfson Sensory, Pain and Regeneration Centre within the School of Neuroscience, of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. The Headache Group was established to improve the lives of those with primary headache disorders through an integrated programme of research, teaching and clinical activity. About the role Applications are invited for doctors with suitable experience to work as a full time Clinical Research Fellow in the Headache Group. The post will contribute to their development as an independent clinical investigator. The post is suitable for a clinician who is seeking to learn about research methodologies or to a post-doctoral fellow who wants to take responsibility for the organisation and conduct of clinical research within the supportive framework of the Neuroscience Division with a specific interest in headache. The Clinical Research Fellow will benefit from the wide range of opportunities and training available within the Headache Group, Neurosciences and Neuroimaging, and Health and Social Care Divisions to develop clinical research skills and a personal portfolio of research. The post offers the opportunity to receive specialist training in headache disorders in one of the leading headache centres in the world. The post is full-time and primarily aimed at undertaking clinical research on funded projects investigating neuroimaging and neurophysiology of primary headache disorders, notably migraine and the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. We have established collaborations for cutting edge functional brain imaging to build on our expertise in headache disorders. We have established methods in the neurophysiology of trigeminal nociception and have established collaborations to extend our understanding of how sleep mechanisms interact with headache disorders. The post offers specialty training in all aspects of the clinical management of headache disorders. You will be offered a fixed term contract until 30th June 2028. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Full GMC registration with valid license to practice Demonstrable early to intermediate research experience, preferably within Neurology or a related discipline Clinical neurology experience in hospital/secondary care setting Ability and experience in dealing sensitively with vulnerable adults, disabled adults with communication difficulties and their families Desirable criteria MRCP or equivalent Good Clinical Practice Qualification (as well as working knowledge of clinical trial regulations).
