Former BBC home and legal affairs correspondent Jon Silverman has joined Bedfordshire University as professor of media and criminal justice. Also joining Bedfordshire is Andrew Slade , formerly of Sunderland University, who has been appointed pro vice-chancellor, research and enterprise.

Iain Densten has joined Lancaster University Management School as director of its leadership centre. He joins from the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy, where he was associate professor of leadership.

Jane Longmore , currently head of the School of Humanities at Greenwich University, has been appointed pro vice-chancellor, academic, at Southampton Solent University.

Paisley University has appointed Gill Troup as vice-principal (strategy) and depute principal. She was formerly head of higher education and learner support at the Scottish Government.

Mike Feintuck , professor and director of the Law School at Hull University, has been appointed as a specialist adviser to the House of Lords inquiry into media ownership and the news.
