Universities in the Northwest of England have launched an association to ensure that higher education is represented on the regional agenda.
Keith Burnley recently took up the post of executive director for the collaboration between the Bolton Institute, Liverpool John Moores University, University of Central Lancashire, University of Lancaster, University of Liverpool, University of Manchester, UMIST, Manchester Metropolitan University, the Open University and the University of Salford. Sir Martin Harris (below), Manchester University's vice-chancellor, will be chair.
