Degree-awarding powers have been awarded to a higher education institution in Leeds. Currently, the University of Leeds awards degrees to graduates of Leeds Trinity and All Saints. However, after an 18-month assessment, new powers granted by the Privy Council mean that it can now design and approve its own degrees. The 43-year-old institution is consulting on plans to change its name to Leeds Trinity University College.
