A university has acquired a leading think tank, saving 43 jobs. The Work Foundation, which focuses on employment issues, has been taken over by Lancaster University, although it will continue to operate from its London headquarters. Lancaster said the acquisition will allow it to increase its influence in research in the field, as well as in the UK's economic recovery. Sue Cox, dean of Lancaster University Management School, said there were "obvious synergies" between the university and the foundation. The think tank had been facing closure because of financial difficulties.
