So Peter Scott, v-c of Kingston University, thinks "minority" issues such as "black and gay identities" are "particularly American preoccupations" that are not "important" in British universities ("The appearance of incoherence", THES, December 10)? Well, all I can say is that I am glad I do not work in his university. What price equal opportunities at Kingston?
