Exeter gets new v-c

Steve Smith was this week named vice-chancellor of the University of Exeter. He will succeed Sir Geoffrey Holland on October 1.

Professor Smith is senior pro vice-chancellor for academic affairs and professor of international politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Since graduating and getting his PhD from the University of Southampton, Professor Smith has held positions including director of the Centre for Public Choice Studies at the University of East Anglia.
