Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

James Petrie, professor of clinical pharmacology and head of the department of medicine and therapeutics at the University of Aberdeen, has been elected president of the college.

University of Birmingham

David Allen, registrar of the University of Nottingham, will succeed David Holmes as registrar and secretary. He was also elected chair of the Association of University Administrators on May 1.

Forum for the Advancement of Continuing Education

Malcolm Barry, head of professional and community education at Goldsmiths College, University of London, has been appointed chairman of the forum.

University of Warwick

Paul Edwards, deputy director of the Industrial Relations Research Unit, will succeed Keith Sisson as director in October 1998.

Royal College of Music

Jeremy Cox, former dean of postgraduate studies at the college, has been appointed dean and deputy director of the college, succeeding Nicholas King. Janet Hilton, clarinettist and head of woodwind at Birmingham Conservatoire, will succeed Colin Bradbury as head of woodwind at the beginning of the 1998-99 academic year.

Verity Joubert, accountant at St Paul's Girls' School, has been appointed head of resources from September 1.
