Loughborough University

Charles Becker, former director of studies at a residential college of further education, has been appointed staff counsellor.

Universities and Colleges Staff Development Agency Gus Pennington, acting director of UCoSDA was appointed chief executive of the agency in April.

Operational Research Society

Robert Dyson, professor of operational research at the University of Warwick, has been appointed president of the society.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers

Michael Rodd, former head of the school of engineering at the University of Wales, Swansea and professor and head of electrical engineering at the University of the Wi****ersrand, South Africa, has been appointed deputy secretary designate.

University of Wolverhampton

Bryony Conway, assistant principal for higher education at Croydon College, has been appointed dean of the university's business school.

University of Surrey

Robin Harvey, rector of East Harptree with West Harptree and Hinton Blewett, has been appointed Anglican chaplain to the university by the diocese of Guildford. R. Middlehurst, professor in the school of educational studies, has been appointed director of the continuing education centre.

City University, London

Costas Grammenos, professor in the business school, has been promoted to pro vice-chancellor.
