Honorary fellows: John Colville, viscount of Culross, politician, businessman, judge and human rights lawyer; John Fowles, novelist and man of letters; Christopher Hampton, author, playwright and screenwriter; Anthony Quinton, philosopher, life peer; Brian Unwin, president of the European Bank; George Prestwick, chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, life peer.

Association of Geochemistry and Geochemical Society Michael O'Hara, chair of petrology and geochemistry, Cardiff University of Wales, fellow of the Royal Society, has been elected to a joint fellowship.

Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Honorary fellowship: Magnus Fladmark, director of the heritage unit at Robert Gordon University.
