Appointments

The Scottish Office. Graeme Catto, vice principal and dean of the faculty of medicine and medical sciences at the University of Aberdeen, has been appointed chief scientist.

Peter Upton, principal of Tavistock Specialist Language College, has been appointed chief executive.

Funding Agency for Schools

The Department for Education and Employment has confirmed the following appointments to the board: David Johns, vice chancellor and principal, University of Bradford; Louise Kidd, former principal/chief executive of Rutland College.

University of Warwick

Prue Huddleston, former deputy director/senior research fellow, has been appointed director of the centre for education and industry from August 1, 1997 to September 30, 1998.

The national council confirmed the appointment of David Sherlock, former principal of Central St. Martins College of Art and Design and senior inspector with the Further Education Funding Council, has been appointed chief inspector of the Training Standards Council.
